Lunches, Dinners etc, can be arranged by calling the pub on (07) 4164 6133. They have a menu/prices for groups, and this can be faxed to you if you call them.

Free parking and camping is allowed behind the pub providing they have booked themselves into the Observatory which is a hop step and jump away from the pub. Showers and toilet is in the Hall across the road from the hotel, and admittance is by gold coin donation. Keys to the hall at the Trading post store adjacent. The town of Maidenwell has the famous Coomba Falls which unfortunately, does not allow a bus or coach to traverse the steep road that leads down to the waterhole. Inclement weather Plan B

    • The best skies are cloudless as no telescope can see through that thick blanket. At times however, our telescope CAN cut through thin cloud which acts a like a filter in some cases for Moon and bright planets. Years ago the weather patterns were like clockwork but now, its all changing due to global warming.
    • On the night of your booked session its best to phone the Observatory before you leave home to get a 'heads-up' of weather at Maidenwell. If its still cloudy when you arrive you are given an alternative: Star Theatre show for a bit less and if clears up while you are there, we adjoin to the telescopes and you pay the difference afterwards. While this has worked a few times in the past, the visitor is given a choice beforehand. If this alternative is not your liking you can take a 'Rain-Check' or go home. We simply do not charge for a service we can not provide.
  • Schools  ( 11 items )

schoolChildren get a buzz looking through big telescopes at the Moon, the Planets, and the stars.

There are three (3) telescopes on our Telescope Observation Deck with which we accommodate up to 30 school children plus teachers.

Up to 68 persons can be seated in the Star Theatre which is fully equipped with audio visual equipment.

A visiting school can see during the day, the Sun's surface as caught by a special Solar Telescope and video camera mounted in a the white dome outside the Star Theatre. They also get to see a some short videos of various Solar System objects and have a fun loaded Astro Quiz.
