Nearest accommodation to the Observatory is the Maidenwell Hotel. It has 3 rooms that will soon be expanded into may more.
- Under NEW Management the hotel is going to be one of the finest and best hotels in the South Burnett.
- Meals now available 7 days and nights a week. Bookings essential. Ph. 4164 6133.
- Pig on Spit on last Saturday of each month at 6pm. Bookings ARE essential for this.
- Free camping behind the pub. It would be decent however for you to book into the Observatory which is just a hop step and jump away. NO Outside LIGHTS are to be seen in the direction of the Observatory from Caravans, Campers and Motorhomes who are parked behind the pub. This will interfere with the Observatory operations at night.
- No power available on this site.
- No camping or parking of Vans and Motorhomes on Sports Field.

This historic hotel has 12 spacious rooms, generous hearty meals 7 days a week and big on hospitality.
Behind the hotel is the Swinging Bridge' over Cooyar Creek with a huge camping area suitable for caravans, motorhomes and campervans.
The Cooyar pub Ph. (07) 4692 6185.owned by Gavin aka 'Spud' Jones also owns the Maidenwell Hotel and takes over the running of the pub as from August 15, 2008.

Bunya Mountains National Park... 30 kms from observatory.
Situated in a rain forest 1100 M above sea level is the State's best known National park and within easy reach of Brisbane, Sunshine and Gold Coast. There is heaps of chalets to rent and during the day, one can take a walk along the many tracks that meander throughout the rainforest. There are also plenty of camping areas up there including a kiosk and restaurant and you can hand feed the parrots on any given day. www.bunyamountains.com

Just 5kms up the Bunya Road from town, lies the Bunyip Springs farmstay. It is a working farm and a great place to take the kids. They can learn all about farm life, feed the chooks, ride a horse, milk a cow or go trekking on the farm's sprawling 600 acres. The Cottage sleeps 6 and the Lodge sleeps 9. Cooyar Hotel... 19 kms from observatory.
This historic hotel has 12 spacious rooms, generous hearty meals and big on hospitality.
Those coming in from Toowoomba can book in, have a meal come up to the Obs. and return to a warm comfy bed.
The owners Gavin (Spud) and Wendy Jones also own the Maidenwell Hotel and take over the running of the pub in mid August, 2008. Meals will be served up 6 days a week including lunches. They are also going to add more rooms for accomadation which is lacking in Maidenwell. Ph. (07) 4692 6185.

Yarraman Caravan Park
This is the first and largest caravan park as you come up the D'Aguliar Highway situated just few Kms north of the town. lots of modern cabins and camping spaces all with power.
The park is handy to shops in town including an IGA supermarket and a great pub -Yarraman Hotel/Motel on the A3. Yarraman Caravan park is run by Lee and Pam Evans. Ph. (07) 4163 8185.
