International Year of Astronomy 2009
- Throughout 2009 will be offering special observing nights to entice you away from your comfort zones.
- Each clear night you can view the Moon, Planets and Stars up close in our powerful telescopes assisted by a prof. astronomer.
- During the day, we will be showing the Sun as seen by a colour video camera projected onto a big screen in the Star Theatre.
This is where you will see our nearest star with its huge Prominences and other activity and with the next 24th 11-year Sunspot cycle just a few years away,
seeing the Sun up close in safety is really cool and exciting!

- Gift Vouchers - Ideal for couples, family (2 adults 2 children) Seniors. Contact us now!
- We don't do any Night Sessions a few nights before, during and after, a Full Moon - Too much moonlight.
- Camping area available close to observatory for schools and community groups or they can sleepover in the main hall.
- Modern kitchen with BBQ available on site for hire for school and community groups.
- Observatory sits on 10 grass acres for those who want to camp out, and do Astrophotography.
- We have no Light Pollution thanks to Ergon Energy who replaced every single streetlight with special lighting.
- Day and Night shows are not suitable for children under 5.
- Maidenwell Hotel does meals 7 days and nights a week.
- Pig on Spit (cooked over an open fire) at the pub - last Saturday of each month.
