FAQ's
  • Q. What is the altitude of the Sun on NI at maximum eclipse?
The solar disk will be 42 degrees up from the eastern horizon as opposed to Oak Beach in Queensland where it will only be 13 degrees.
We have more chances of seeing the event on Norfolk Island than in north Queensland. That time of the year, low horizon-hugging cloud  in the east could quite easily block out the sun.
  • Q.  How will the cloud cover be on the eclipse day on the island?
Going by the island's Met stats, November is generally their drier and cloud-free month. So our chances are very, very good.
While forecasting the weather for that day can not be guaranteed, the island stands a better chance of seeing the eclipse from start to finish than in North Queensland.
  • Q. What do I bring?
Cameras/lenses. A solid quality tripod, memory cards, a hat, sunnies, suncream, day walking and nighttime social attire and a positive attitude for meeting and making new friends and having lots of fun. November days on the island are beautiful but do wear something comfortable. Norfolk Island has NO light pollution, NO bugs and NO creepy crawlies.
